1. What This Website Is
Davis County Criminal History is a private reference website. It is not operated by Davis County, the State of Iowa, a court, sheriff, police department, DCI, DOC, or any other government agency. It organizes public information about official record custodians and access methods but does not issue, host, certify, or correct government criminal records.
2. Rules for Using This Site
You agree to use the website only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not damage the service or harm another person. You must not:
- violate federal, Iowa, or local law through use of the website;
- stalk, threaten, intimidate, harass, or unlawfully discriminate against any person;
- use information for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another FCRA-regulated decision;
- attempt unauthorized access to the website, its accounts, or supporting systems;
- run bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools against the pages; or
- interfere with the website's availability or another visitor's use.
3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination
Information found here or through a linked service may not be used to harass, stalk, threaten, intimidate, or unlawfully discriminate. Registry data requires special care. The Iowa Sex Offender Registry is a public-safety notification resource, not an invitation to confront a registrant or take vigilante action. Misuse may violate Iowa law, including requirements and restrictions in Iowa Code chapter 692A.
4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency
This website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and does not produce a consumer report. Neither the site nor its advertising relationships are offered for screening a job applicant, housing applicant, borrower, or insured person. You may not use site content or linked search output to:
- make a hiring, firing, or other employment decision;
- evaluate a renter or other housing applicant;
- judge creditworthiness or set an insurance term;
- determine eligibility for a license, benefit, or government program; or
- make any other decision regulated by the FCRA.
When law requires an authorized official check, use the proper Iowa Department of Public Safety, Division of Criminal Investigation channel or another legally compliant provider.
5. No Legal Advice
Content is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how an Iowa statute, Davis County charge, warrant, sentence, record challenge, or expungement rule applies to a particular situation. Consult a licensed Iowa attorney for advice about individual rights, deadlines, or strategy.
6. No Warranties
The website and its content are provided as is and as available. No promise is made that information is complete, current, accurate, secure, error-free, or continuously accessible. Davis County and Iowa offices can change fees, addresses, hours, systems, and release practices. A case can also be amended, dismissed, sealed, expunged, or corrected after information is published. Verify all material with the responsible government office.
7. Third-Party Services and Links
Links may lead to government portals, legal resources, advertising partners, and independent search services. Those services control their own content, availability, data practices, prices, and terms. This website is not responsible for an outside service or for loss arising from its use. Review the destination's rules before submitting data or payment.
8. Intellectual Property
Text, graphics, logos, compilation choices, and code on this website belong to Davis County Criminal History or the applicable content owner. Except where law permits, content may not be copied, republished, distributed, changed, or used to create a derivative work without prior written permission.
9. Limits on Our Liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, the website and its operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive loss arising from use of the site, inability to use it, reliance on its content, or use of a linked service. This includes loss caused by an incomplete, stale, or incorrectly matched record result.
10. Indemnification
You agree to defend and hold the website and its operators harmless from claims, demands, liabilities, losses, and reasonable legal costs that arise from your use of the site, your violation of these terms, or your infringement of another person's rights.
11. Governing Law
Iowa law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute related to use of the website must be brought in a court with proper jurisdiction in Iowa. Government-record access itself remains governed by laws such as the Iowa Open Records Law and criminal-history dissemination provisions in Iowa Code chapter 692.
12. Changes to These Terms
These terms may be updated when site practices or legal requirements change. A revision takes effect when the new terms and effective date are posted. Continued use after that posting means the revised terms govern future use.
13. Cutting Off Access
Access may be restricted or ended at any time when necessary to protect the website, enforce these terms, comply with law, or address misuse. Advance notice is not required.
14. Severability
If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. The affected provision will be limited or revised only to the extent required to make it enforceable.
15. Questions
Questions concerning these terms may be directed through the Contact page. Questions about a Davis County or Iowa government record must go to the office that maintains it.
